Hello Peeps. \u00a0I hope you\u2019re able to stay cool during these summer months. \u00a0July has been insanely warm for Oregon. \u00a0Dare I even say hot. \u00a0Thankfully an angel gifted me with an A\/C unit and so for the first time, I\u2019m surviving nicely. \u00a0Although, to get the best circulation for the apartment I put it in the window near my computer. \u00a0The apartment feels great\u2026..but I need a sweater to blog. *chuckles*<\/p>\n

For those of us who are fans of the Taiwanese show Fated To Love You, there is now a Korean remake for us to watch and enjoy. \u00a0This is one of my favorite shows out of Taiwan and I watch it regularly. \u00a0This may put an unfair bias towards the Korean remake simply because there is so much that is awesome about the Taiwan version such as our male lead, for example. Ethan Ruan set the bar high for the confused but adorable Cun Xi. \u00a0Jang Hyuk has some big shoes to fill as our lead Gun.<\/p>\n

Joining me on this quest will be Firnlambe from Soju-Like-Kdramas<\/a>: \u00a0 “Greetings!! I suppose you can call me the counterbalance to Wendilynn for this series. I\u2019ve only seen the Taiwanese version once. I loved it, don\u2019t get me wrong–but I don\u2019t have nearly the same attachment to the characters, so I should be able to provide a little less biased opinion on each episode” ^-^<\/p>\n

So then…lets get started.<\/p>\n

We start out with a model shampooing her hair for a CF. \u00a0She freaks out that this unknown product will damage her pampered locks. \u00a0In saunters our company president, full of confident arrogance and gifts us, the viewers, with some gorgeous, over the top shampoo porn.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"FTLY1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Wendilynn:<\/strong>\u00a0 Its quite an introduction for our male lead, Lee Gun. \u00a0He\u2019s gorgeous without his shirt on and this show does seem to try and keep him shirtless at every opportunity. \u00a0That laugh though\u2026 *shakes head* \u00a0\u00a0Its uncomfortable to listen to. I had a hard time warming up to him because he came across so smarmy.
\nFirnlambe<\/strong>: Oh God\u2026.this\u2026..this was hard to watch. As glorious and gorgeous as Lee Gun is shirtless, the over the top cheesiness to this scene was a tough pill to swallow.<\/p>\n

\"FTLY5\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Next comes our Post-it girl, Kim Mi Young. \u00a0She has the coolest opening sequence ever. \u00a0Who wouldn\u2019t want Pentatonix singing your introduction.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: I like this casting\u2026..this version of the Post-it girl is just as good as the original.<\/p>\n

Wendilynn<\/strong>: I have to agree with you. \u00a0I like Jang Na Ra. \u00a0So I was really happy to see her as our Post-it girl.<\/p>\n

\"FTLY21\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the jerk she takes on her winning vacation to Macau. \u00a0I\u2019m only including him because they actually keep him around for a few episodes. \u00a0This guy is a total sleaze. \u00a0As soon as she wins the vacation, he starts schmoozing her so he can go along.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: Personally\u2026.I didn\u2019t like how Korea went about introducing this couple. It was waaaaay too rushed. And because of that, the coming events didn\u2019t have nearly the same impact on my sympathy radar for our leading lady as I had in the original.
\nWendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0I also felt like part of the story was missing leading up to the morning after.<\/p>\n

\"FTLY20\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s our prime candidate for SLS. \u00a0Daniel is gently played by gorgeous Choi Jin Hyuk. \u00a0Looking for his lost sister who was adopted out to strangers unknown. \u00a0We are greeted with him at an orphanage playing soccer with children. \u00a0Can he steal our hearts any more completely?<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: I foresee much more heartache in my feeling towards Korea\u2019s Daniel than I had for Taiwan\u2019s Dylan. Granted\u2026\u2026..that maaaaaaay have to do with how gentle Choi Jin Hyuk is portraying him.
\nWendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0He\u2019s playing him much more warm than Dylan was played. Dylan didn\u2019t get warm till much later, where Daniel\u2019s warmth is evident from his first words.<\/p>\n

\"FTLY3\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Enter trouble in the bodies of the Island company President and Kim Mi Young\u2019s brother-in-law. These two have hatched a plan to catch Gun In flagrante delicto so that they can save their doomed company. \u00a0Their comedy of errors is funny and sets everyone up for the inevitable.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: Mixed feelings are mixed on these two. I can\u2019t decide if I\u2019m going to like them or not yet.<\/p>\n

Wendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0One of the joys of the Taiwan version is the cheesiness of the islanders. \u00a0Although these same characters were more redneck in the T version.\u00a0 Here they are just sort of dumb.<\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: Agreed\u2026and that\u2019s too bad. I\u2019ll take cheesy rednecks over bumbling idiots any day.<\/p>\n

Wendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0I think the difference in story length plays a role here. \u00a0Taiwan shows get far more episodes to play with \u00a0then Korean shows do. \u00a0Although, this K version is supposed to have 20 episodes.<\/p>\n

\"FTLY8\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Gun\u2019s first love, Se Ra. \u00a0Prima Ballerina who has lost the audition to be Odette in Swan Lake. She is willing to let Gun propose to her because she thinks she has nothing else. One phone call is all it takes to change her life as well as Gun\u2019s and Mi Young.<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: Begin the hate cycle!!! Se Ra is just<\/i> as selfish and self-centered as An Na.
\nWendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0I didn\u2019t like this character in either story. \u00a0What really made it worse is that we get far more backstory \u00a0on how much Gun has loved and ached for her. \u00a0Its a counterpoint to his overwhelming smarminess when he\u2019s being a jerk.<\/p>\n

\"FTLY9\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Yes, lets thank the hapless morons who get you jacked up on sex juice. \u00a0Really, does Gun absolutely need to wear clothing?<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: He can keep the shirt off\u2026..as long as he changes his hairstyle. This floppy mop needs to go.
\nWendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0Yeah, it adds to the smarmy feeling. lol<\/p>\n

\"FTLY11\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Our couple has both consumed the drink that will make sex inevitable, however, unlike the Taiwanese version that actually gives you a clean love scene. \u00a0We get a hokey cartoon euphemism about making rice and then a snuggle wake up scene. This show has no problem getting Gun shirtless at any opportunity, but heaven forbid we show people kissing.<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: Well\u2026.in their defense it\u2019s not a cable show…or<\/i> a weekend drama<\/p>\n

Wendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0I was just dumbfounded that they didn\u2019t even kiss. \u00a0Not even a chaste one before switching to the cartoon. And after the shampoo porn scene, what\u2019s to be worried about?<\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: True\u2026.maybe they\u2019re wanting to save the kisses for later?<\/p>\n

\"FTLY14\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mi Young, upset after finding out that she not only slept with the wrong person, but that her sleazy BF was sleeping with someone else as well is left upset and feeling low. \u00a0While scumbag refuses to take any responsibility for her emotional state, enter Gun to play the white knight.<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: So you know how I said my feels for the coming events were not as strong this time around. Yes\u2026.I felt sad for Mi Young, but it wasn\u2019t neeearly<\/i> the same level of devastation that Xin Yi experienced. Although I did love that Gun was there to pull her up when she reached her lowest point.
\nWendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0Agreed. \u00a0I don\u2019t think they played it to the same level as in the T version. \u00a0Although, that conversation about whose the noble and whose the commoner was amusing to watch. \u00a0Lawyer scumbag thinks he\u2019s all that and Gun shows up to show him otherwise.<\/p>\n

\"FTLY15\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Both Gun and Mi Young have been hurt by the people they liked. Ditched unfairly. \u00a0Gun, despite his bravado at other moments, had a heart of gold and listens to her sad story. \u00a0Fighting tears, he decides to champion her cause and embarrassment and maybe, get a little payback.<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: I wholeheartedly LOVED<\/i> this scene\u2026.no qualms whatsoever.<\/p>\n

Wendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0I had serious.. and I mean serious misgivings about Gun as our lead up until this scene. \u00a0Even when he\u2019s practicing for his proposal, I had a hard time buying that he could be gentle. \u00a0Those tears in his eyes dispelled that worry.<\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: I blame his hair stylist.<\/p>\n

Wendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0\u00a0LOL!! Maybe they went and borrowed whoever ruined Full House: Take Two\u2019s hair and make up?
\nFirnlambe<\/strong>: It all makes sense now\u2026..<\/p>\n

\"FTLY16\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Enter the polka-dot twins. \u00a0Why are male fashion designers always played as being gay? \u00a0In this case, they are way too funny to not give a shout out to. \u00a0\u00a0They are responsible for turning our post-it girl into a goddess.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: ooooooh Polka-dot twins\u2026..I loved these two
\nWendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0They were funny, but a bit too much for me. \u00a0When they were complaining I kept wanting to say, \u201cIs this all your skill is good for? \u00a0Wimp out at the first challenge because she hasn\u2019t been spending 20K a month on plastic surgery and spa treatments?\u201d<\/p>\n

\"FTLY17\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Enemy spotted. \u00a0Gun is taking Mi Young out to slay the troll under the bridge. \u00a0They are both dressed to kill.<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: Seeee!! Swept back hair looks much<\/i> better on Gun than the floppy style he was sporting earlier.<\/p>\n

Wendilynn<\/strong>: Yes, he\u2019s very handsome here.<\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: I also preferred this makeover\u2026.it felt more dramatic for some reason.<\/p>\n

Wendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0I\u2019m with you on this one, this Post-it girl makeover was much more the thing and fit her better then what Xin Yi got. \u00a0She looked like a goddess here.<\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: Lady Luck \u2026 goddess style!!<\/p>\n

\"FTLY18\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There is nothing more humiliating then realizing you had a crush on a coward. While some people would take pleasure in their enemy on their knees before them. \u00a0Mi Young knows that this was the guy she thought was \u201cworth it\u201d. \u00a0To see him groveling so he doesn\u2019t lose his gambling money makes her realize she had picked a loser to start with. \u00a0That\u2019s never a good feeling.<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: Jerks will always be jerks\u2026.no matter how much they tell you otherwise.
\nWendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0I understand how she feels though. \u00a0My last boyfriend was a train wreck and it made me feel terrible that this was the type of guy I was attracting. What did it say about me? \u00a0I haven\u2019t really dated seriously since.<\/p>\n

\"FTLY19\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Gun truly is a gentleman. He may not be in love with Mi Young, but he respects her courage and kindness. \u00a0He gives her the gambling chip and tells her that as long as she\u2019s got one chip, she has a chance to change the game. \u00a0This was also a running theme in the Taiwanese version. Its nice to see it here too.<\/em><\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: Agreed\u2026. I\u2019m also glad they kept the chip theme running. Here\u2019s hoping she puts it on her key chain\u2026..although this chip is a tad<\/i> bit larger–so that may cause some problems.<\/p>\n

Wendilynn<\/strong>: \u00a0Maybe she can turn it into a charm necklace?<\/p>\n

Firnlambe<\/strong>: Ooooo, I like the way you think m\u2019dear.<\/p>\n

This wraps up our first two episodes of this new series.\u00a0 As you can see we have mixed reactions to the set up of our leads and the pacing felt a little off.\u00a0 We have much hope for the next episodes where things start getting serious for Gun and Mi Young.<\/p>\n
